Oxford Hypnosis can help you

How can hypnosis help me?

Every person is unique; many have doubts or fears, and most have misconceptions. Everyone goes through the hypnotic state twice a day – on waking and going to sleep. Hypnosis is the means used to talk to the subconscious mind. "Driving lessons" are a case of programming the subconscious while fully conscious. The subconscious mind never switches off; it is always active: so at night – if you awake and wonder why – the subconscious has said "wake – strange noise!"

What will happen?

Some people go into a very deep state of relaxation and others remain slightly relaxed, which works exactly the same. You cannot and will not do or say anything you would not do normally, so "you" are in total control, yet on the verge of a very relaxed sleep. During this relaxed state your subconscious mind is open and receptive to suggestions, providing it's what you consciously want. And that is the key – you have to want it to take effect.  Hypnosis will not work if you – the conscious mind or "Ego" – override the subconscious mind or the "Id".

And afterwards?

After a session with Oxford Hypnosis you will sleep very well: we look upon this as added value.

One last thing

When you go to see a hypnotherapist, you are half way to sorting the problem – expect to succeed and you certainly will. Every time you say "I cannot" – that's true, you can't, and you are hypnotising yourself not to do it. When you say "I can" – that is also true, and you hypnotise yourself to do it.

Will power over won't power!

Involved with hypnosis since 1972, when successfully hypnotised to stop smoking. "The power of the mind" was the catch-phrase for the practice for some while. Oxford Hypnosis has helped with everything from enuresis, exam nerves and other juvenile problems, to smoking, dieting, IBS and other adult problems.

Austin Maytham has a programme for continual learning and has been studying for most of his life. He was brought up on a small-holding in the Essex countryside and then settled in Oxfordshire in 1984. After practising in Cardiff and Abingdon, he is now semi-retired and working from home. After successes in dealing with many adult and child problems, "helping you help yourself" and "we can help" have become the practice's new catch-phrases.
